Everyone
who comes to the Caribbean, does so because they dream of relaxing in
a
swaying hammock with a loved one or a good book, while the gin clear waters of the sea lap contentedly at the edge of their verandah. Too bad most of the big hotels don't live up to this imaginative expectation. If you would like to fulfill this dream, stay at SEA RANCH or RASTA RANCH at HORIZON COTTAGES. Only a fifty minute drive from the bright lights of Montego Bay, but a world away in ambiance. |

Here you will experience real Jamaican living in a brightly painted, local style cabin, perched above a patch of powder sugar sand, surrounded by glorious tropical flowers. Take a kayak out to the reef and plunge into the depths. Thrill to the electric colours of the swiftly moving fish. Have a close encounter with a spotted damselfish, trumpet fish or blue chromis. You will be fascinated by the endless variety. Wander across the road to Robert's and enjoy some authentic Jamaican food. Chat up the locals and generally feel like you belong here. Just down the road
is the PETER TOSH MEMORIAL. He was one of the original members
of BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS. |
Spend a day at BLUEFIELDS BEACH where HENRY MORGAN, the famous pirate, gathered together all of the pirates of the Caribbean to sack PUERTO BELLO and PANAMA CITY in 1668 (he returned with over 250,000 pieces of eight. |

| It's rather peaceful now, except on a holiday weekend when the ten-foot high speakers blast forth a dancehall beat and everyone from miles around comes to the bashment. If you would like to explore a bit further a field, laze around at the BLUE HOLE, a classic swimming hole with the most astoundingly blue water you have ever seen. Lunch at LOVE CAFÉ for real ROOTS cooking at its best. Go climb a bubbling waterfall at MAYFIELD FALLS and hike back through a working plantation. For a really "wild" day try snorkeling with some manatees, or make friends with some of our laid back Jamaican crocodiles. You will leave HORIZON COTTAGES regretfully. Realizing that you know and understand Jamaica much better than your friends who have stayed in Negril or Ocho Rios. You have made friends here……….. You will be back………… |
